NEW TRAILER: Fergerson, Knowles in 'EPIC'

20th Century Fox Animation Epic (2013) - A brand new trailer for Epic was released today, courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox Animation. Epic is the tale of a teenaged girl named Mary Katherine, portrayed by actress Amanda Seyfried, who is transported to a world filled with fairies and talking insects trapped in a battle between good and evil.

Josh Hutcherson of Hunger Games fame is the voice behind the character Nod, a miniscule warrior with great agility, seen from his arrow dodging skills in the trailer. Hutcherson isn’t the only celebrity on board; comedians Johnny Knoxville (Jackass) and Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation) are among an impressive list of celebrities that include Beyonce, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, and rapper Pitbull presents an awesome assortment of musical talents to be featured in the film.

EPIC is a 3D CG action-adventure comedy that reveals a hidden world unlike any other. From the creators of ICE AGE and RIO, EPIC tells the story of an ongoing battle deep in the forest between the forces of good and the forces of evil. When a teenage girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a ragtag team of fun and whimsical characters in order to save their world, and ours.

Out of the list of celebrities, only a few roles are known at this point. Beyonce will portray Queen Tara, while Ansari serves as the voice of Mub, a slug that can be seen near to the end of the trailer. I’ve been reading that this may be a more “serious” version of the 1992 animated film FernGully: The Last Rainforest–an Australian-American animated film by Bill Kroyer. The theme so far is seemingly similar familiar and yet, different.

Still are you as excited as I am? What a world wind of new animated features coming out (Hotel Transylvania, Frankenweenie) and I am totally looking forward to this one!
