First Look! Danai Gurira as 'Michonne!'

The third season of The Walking Dead needs to hurry up and arrive, because we have our first glimpse of Danai Gurira as Michonne! She looks intense, ready for combat, and most importantly, a flawless resemblance to the character from the comics. Also noteworthy is the design of the sword; it seems Robert Kirkman was indeed intent on creating an impressive katana for the show.

Kirkman revealed he was struck by Gurira’s audition for the character and immediately knew to add her to the cast. From what we have seen so far from her in the season two finale and from this exclusive image, it’s safe to say he has his work cut out for him.

She kind of came in and really just blew us all away. She’s got incredible presence, and she’s got a theater background, and is very physical, and was just perfect for the role

Season 3 of The Walking Dead premiers THIS FALL ON AMC–and promises to deliver to audiences a most thrilling, viewing experience.
