Celebrating VOGUE’s 120th Anniversary
HBO Spotlight – To celebrate Vogue’s 120th anniversary, HBO will air In Vogue: The Editor in honor of the famed magazine’s iconic images as chosen by its editors. Fashion admirers and readers of Vogue will no doubt want to tune in to this special commemorative documentary, airing on December 6th exclusively on HBO.
Editor in chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, is one of many guests that will be present in the documentary alongside her co-workers Grace Coddington, Tonne Goodman, Polly Allen Mellen, Camilla Nickerson, Phyllis Posnick, and Babs Simpson for interviews and insights into their experiences with top photographers, presenting consistent quality for over a hundred years. Not only has the magazine presented changes in fashion, it shows how American society has changed in 125 years. Stars who have been featured on the cover of Vogue or in the magazine itself, such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicole Kidman will appear in the documentary. Naturally, since Vogue is a fashion magazine, fashion industry legends Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Alber Elbraz, and Nicolas Ghesquière will make special appearances.
The people who are responsible for the fashion images is the fashion editors. They have always been our secret weapon, so it seemed to me that we could celebrate Vogue, and also, at the same time, celebrate these great editors.
The Editor’s Eye, a book on the work of Vogue complete with stunning images, was published in early October of this year. Even the president of HBO Documentary Films, Shelia Nevins, expressed how amazed she was to witness how the editors stage a photograph for it to go into the magazine, and the quality of the work presented. If the president of the documentary division of HBO is impressed by the work, it says a lot about its quality.
