Men In Black III – Agents A and K are back!
Columbia Pictures - Men In Black™ III - (May 25, 2012) – Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (Men In Black I & II), is set to topple The Avengers, when it opens world-wide May 25th. The film is expected to surpass $200 million over the holiday weekend.
In Men In Black™ III, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back! In the 15-years on the job, both agents have seen some inexplicable things. Agent J, however, is perplexed by what he does not know about his partner Agent K. When K’s life and the fate of the planet is again at risk, he will have to travel back in time to put thing’s in order. J discovers that there are a lot of things his partner hasn’t told him–which will reveal themselves when he teams up with the young “Agent K” (Josh Brolin) in an effort to save his partner, the agency, and the future of all humankind.
“The Men in Black movies are about the relationship between J and K,” says Will Smith, who returns to one of his signature and favorite roles, Agent J, in Columbia Pictures’ Men in Black™ 3. “This movie brings that home – it’s about the power and origin of their relationship. It’s actually an idea we’ve had for years – we had the concept before the second movie – but it needed time to mature. What we had to do was elevate the story, and the only way to do that is to go deeper, deeper into the characters, deeper into the revelations that the movie would reveal.”
Two-time Academy Award® nominee Will Smith has enjoyed unprecedented success with a career encompassing film, television, and music. Smith is currently filming and producing After Earth, co-starring with his son, Jaden Smith–directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
Academy Award® Tommy Lee Jones always bring distinct character portrayals in every film he is in. With a career spanning four decades, Jones made his debut in film in Love Story and most notable as Federal Marshal Samuel Gerard in The Fugitive. Jones just completed filming The Emperor, where he portrays General Douglas Mac Arthur on location in New Zealand with director Peter Webber.
New to the MIB franchise is Academy Award® nominated Josh Brolin as the young Agent K. Brolin has become a powerful sought-after actor, and is prevalent in thought-provoking independent films; and will also be starring alongside Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Sean Penn in The Gangster Squad–as well in the 2013 release Labor Day by Paramount Pictures.
Concerned whether or not a third installment of the Men In Black is worth a look? One of my favorite film critics, Marshall Fine at Hollywood and Fine has this to say about the film:
As a result, “Men in Black™ 3” may just be a better film than the original, which came out in 1997. I’m as surprised as you are.
Expectation for this films’ success this holiday weekend has just increased. What say you? Will you be checking out MIB3 the holiday weekend?
