The first modern family.
DreamWorks Animation The Croods may not be the first modern family. That title goes to the 2D animated prehistoric family The Flintstones. However, The Croods possess a certain uniqueness about them. Partially because the characters are being voiced by some of Hollywood’s leading actors: Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone and Ryan Renolds to name a few and mostly because it is another brilliantly animated feature from DreamWorks Animation studios, the same studio who brought us the animated martial arts action of Kung Fu Panda, the fantasy-adventure film Rise of the Guardians and made us believe that dragons are real in How to Train Your Dragon. Let us now travel to an undiscovered era known as Croodacious, expansive landscapes filled with creatures we haven’t seen before.
Synopsis: The Croods is a 3D comedy adventure that follows the world’s first modern family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always been their home is destroyed. Traveling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods are rocked by generational clashes and seismic shifts as they discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures — and their outlook is changed forever.
One day, the world changes for a caveman named Grug (Cage) and his family when they are forced to leave their home and search for a new one in an ever changing world. They soon meet up with a nomad named Guy (Reynolds), who “search for the new world of tomorrow” conflicts with Grug’s reluctance to change the family traditions of yesterday. In addition, The Croods is also a love story. Eep (Stone) meets and fall in love with Guy–who will help them escape from a coming catastrophe that will forever alter the entire world.
Written and directed by Chris Sanders, and Kirk De Micco, the film also features the voice talents of Catherine Keener as Ugga, Clark Duke as Thunk, and Cloris Leachman as Gran.
