Cold body. Warm Heart.
Jonathan Levine‘s WARM BODIES (2013) is just in time for Valentine’s Day next year. Warm Bodies is an unusual twist on the classic love story–with zombies. Not too sure about this sub-genre mash-up, but where ever there are zombies, movie goers are already primed to check it out. I am sure you’ve seen the films Zombieland and Shawn of the Dead, you almost had–for the most part a hilarious romance tale in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.
The film is based on the novel Warm Bodies written by Issac Marion. The tale follows “R” (played by Nicholas Hoult (X-Men First Class, Clash of the Titans), who is a zombie. “R” and his other un-dead comrades just shuffle about searching for anything with a pulse–to eat. But unlike the other zombies, R is looking for something more than just “brains.” Within the chaos, R finds what he is looking for in Julie (played by Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four, Take Me Home Tonight), a warm body who brightens this otherwise dreary world.

Synopsis: A funny new twist on a classic love story, WARM BODIES is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.
