Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’ NEW Image of BILBO BAGGINS and GIVEAWAY

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is one of my most anticipated mainstream films of the year. I’ve been keeping a close eye on The Hobbit Blog for the latest news and information regarding the film. I was surprised that the new image wasn’t found on the blog so I did a little digging and found the image on GeekTyrant. In the image, Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) is holding the ancient sword Sting, an elvish long knife lost during the fall of Gondolin. Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released in December of 2012, with The Hobbit: There and Back Again to be released December 13, 2013.

Screenwriter Philippa Boyens had this to say in a recent interview about the film:

“The story is very much a children’s story so deciding how to tell this was one of the first things we had to do. Who is the audience? It is very distinctly different, tonally, to ‘Lord of the Rings’ until the very end and then you begin to see the world of Middle-earth opening up… but, having said that, we felt that it is the same audience [who will come to see the films] and then you start to worry because it is easy to repeat yourself. It is quite a similar journey, you’re going from the Shire to a large, dangerous mountain.”
