Deception has no friends.
Armando Montelongo Productions announces that award-winning indie action thriller, MISSION PARK, is slated for a national platform release in select AMC Theatres locations on September 6, 2013. The film was written and directed by Bryan Anthony Ramirez, and stars Jeremy Ray Valdez (Walkout, LA Mission), Walter Perez (The Avengers, FAME (2009)), Fernanda Romero (Drag Me To Hell, The Eye), Joseph Julian Soria (Crank: High Voltage, Filly Brown), and Will Rothhaar (Battle Los Angeles, Killing Kennedy), and features Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day, Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2), Will Estes (CBS’s Blue Bloods), Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints, Showtime’s Dexter), Jesse Borrego (Blood In, Blood Our and Con Air), Julio Cedillo (Cowboys and Aliens), David J. Phillips (Life Happens, Green Guys), and Independent Spirit Award nominee Douglas Spain (Star Maps, HBO’s Band of Brothers). The film is set for a platform release starting in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and San Antonio, with other markets to follow.
“Armando Montelongo Inc. strives to align themselves with companies that embody stewardship in their respected fields,” explains the company’s President and CEO, Armando Montelongo. “With AMC Theaters’ partnership and belief in MISSION PARK, we are confident the film will be a huge success.”
Synopsis: In MISSION PARK, the ambitions of four childhood friends land them on opposite sides of the law. Rookie FBI agents Bobby (Valdez) and Julian (Rothhaar) must go undercover and face their hidden pasts in an attempt to bring down their best friends’ (PEREZ, SORIA) criminal organization.
The film picked up wins for Best Narrative Feature, Best Director, and Best Acting Performance (Walter Perez) at this year’s Boston International Film Festival, as well as the Special Jury Prize for Best Feature Film at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.
“Through our AMC Independent platform, we regularly explore new distribution platforms to help independent filmmakers tell their stories,” said Nikkole Denson-Randolph, vice president, specialty and alternative content, AMC. “We are very proud to bring MISSION PARK to our screens and believe it to be a meaningful story.”
MISSION PARK marks Ramirez’ feature directorial debut, and he recently co-directed the horror thriller SANITARIUM that premiered earlier this year at the 2013 Miami International Film Festival, and stars Malcolm McDowell, Lou Diamond Phillips, John Glover, Robert Englund, Lacy Chabret, David Mazouz, and Walter Perez.
“I am beyond excited that AMC Theaters is behind my film,” commented Ramirez. “I made Mission Park to show that it’s the choices we make in life that define us, not the circumstance of our surroundings. I really hope audiences leave the theater with this same realization.”
