Ryan Kwanten is still sexy no matter what bonk film he is in!
Jeremiah Chechik‘s THE RIGHT KIND OF WRONG (2013) attempts to flip the script on the typical romantic comedy about a man and his pursuit of a woman he either had lost or cannot have. Our easy on the eyes protagonist Leo (played by Ryan Kwanten from HBO’s True Blood) tries to win the affections of a married woman (Sara Canning), beginning at her wedding. As much as the film tries to make the audience fall for his ambitions, he just comes across as stubborn, stalker’ish, and desperate. Fortunately, this production is salvageable due to its picturesque Canadian backdrop.
Leo Palamino (Kwanten) is a failed writer who became a dishwasher after his book wasn’t as successful as he’d hoped. At the same time, his ex-wife thought it’d be a good idea to create the website “Why You Suck,” to list his shortcomings. The website grew in popularity and eventually, a best-selling book. Of course, Leo isn’t too happy about the website and book success. To make already complicated matters worse, he spies Colette (Canning), who is getting married on the same day he meets her. But, get this–it isn’t Colette’s personality that attracts Leo. But because she could kick the shit out of football. Sexist indeed. However, this movie only confirms the type of character profile Kwanten seems doomed to play: an attractive halfwit.
This story sucks. I mean, who would find “stalking” behavior as comedy? Well, in this movie anyway. There is no reason for Colette and Leo to “get together” let alone be together.
