Season 3 Of The Walking Dead in Production!

TWD, Robert Kirkman, Season 3 'The Walking Dead'

Robert Kirkman (May 7, 2012) - Production for season 3 of The Walking Dead began today, and AMC had the chance to sit down with a short interview with executive producer and creator of the Walking Dead comic series Robert Kirkman about the new, fan-favorite character Michonne (Danai Gurira) and the impressive work that went into the prison set where much of the new season will take place.

Kirkman reveals how he’s fallen in love with the state of Georgia and the town where the show is filmed, Senoia. He is very excited about filming in the prison that was hand built to replicate the structure in the comic book as closely as possible. The SWAT room seen in the comic series will exist in the series however; Kirkman elaborates the characters won’t necessarily be more comfortable now that they have a massive stock of gear to use against the walkers.

Kirkman also looks forward to seeing David Morrissey dressed as the frightening Governor, and piques interest in his statement concerning the possible main threat in season three. He states:

“Humans, however, do not follow any rules and will always do something that surprises you and are capable of doing things far worse than trying to eat you. We’re definitely going to be seeing a lot of horrible things.”

In addition, he describes the sword training that Gurira had to endure to prepare for her role as Michonne, and promises she will indeed impress fans of the series. The sword was specifically designed for usage in the show and the origins of how she obtained with will be revealed in the upcoming season.

Kirkman will also be producing an adaptation of  his other comic book series, Thief of Thieves–a tale of a man by the name of Conrad Paulson who leads a double life as an infamous thief with the alias Redman.

Unlike many of his co-workers, he enjoys the extended season; in order to tell the story thoroughly and feature more character development, in his opinion, there must be a fair amount of episodes. The fans, surely, are bound to enjoy the extension as well.

I just had to add the awesome scene from season 2 of The Walking Dead when Michonne saves Andrea from a walker!
