Supernatural Season 8: Dean Emerges from Purgatory

Dean, you’re back?

Supernatural, Season 8 SPOILERS - Dean (Jensen Ackles) emerges from Purgatory in the seasons’ opening episode We Need to Talk About Kevin. The eighth season of Supernatural premiering this Wednesday at 9PM EST on the CW. The older Winchester brother had spent an entire year in Purgatory while Sam (Jared Padalecki) halted the search for him and picked up his more “normal” life. Dean spent his time using the practices and skills obtained through years of training and hunting, and Sam had another chance at the stable life he wanted–something that gives him peace. But now since the brothers have reunited, what possible riffs could emerge from the different experiences? Jensen Ackles hints at what could occur:

It’s going to take a little bit of time to warm back up to the relationship that [Dean] has with Sam. There’s also what Sam did for the past year, which kind of compacts the odd element that these two brothers have spent time apart, but it’s what they were doing.

Aside from conflict of interests, the Winchesters must track down Kevin (Osric Chau) who is being hunted down by Crowley (Mark Sheppard). We can see in the trailer below it appears Kevin is a prophet and has in his possession a stone tablet that mentions closing the gates of Hell and removing all demons from the earth–for eternity. Dean also had a little help getting out of Purgatory from a vampire named Benny (Ty Olsson) and this indebted relationship will cause issues for the rest of the season to add this new, and crucial task for the brothers to tackle.

With all this dilemma in front of them, it will mean that Castiel (Misha Collins) will make more than just a few appearances, and help them out of any trouble they are sure to get into. Additional questions that need answering–Did he make it out of Purgatory and if so, will they be on shady terms? What about Sam? He pretty much abandoned the hunt. Will this be the 8th and final season of Supernatural?

Guess we will just have to wait and see. Get ready. Supernatural, Wednesdays 9/8c
