Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED Synopsis Revealed

Quentin Tarantino, Django Unchained

The Weinstein Company has released the official plot synopsis for Tarantino’s Django Unchained. Not too long ago, an open casting call was held here in New Orleans (February 15). Filming has begun in Orleans and St. John The Baptist Parishes in February and March of this year.

Django Unchained takes place two years before the Civil War with Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx starring as Django, a runaway slave with a callous past. His experiences lead to an encounter with a German-born bounty hunter named Dr. King Shultz, portrayed by Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz. Shultz is searching for the fiendish Brittle Brothers, and Django offers to assist him–with the promise of freedom upon their capture.

After their successful bounty, the pair decides to remain in business together, chasing the most wanted criminals in the South. In Shultz’s company, Django acquires essential hunting skills, bracing himself for his most important mission yet: locating and rescuing his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington).

Eventually their search leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the owner of “Candyland,” an abominable plantation in which slaves are conditioned by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to face each other in an arena-like atmosphere.  Django and Shultz masquerade themselves in order explore the facility; however, they kindle the suspicions of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s loyal house slave. Under the watchful eye of a deadly organization, the two bounty hunters must escape with Broomhilda free and alive.

Django Unchained is written and directed by Academy Award®-winner Quentin Tarantino, produced by Stacey Sher, Reginald Hudlin and Pilar Savone. The Weinstein Brothers, Harvey and Bob, are among the executive producers of the film, which also include Michael Shamberg, Shannon McIntosh, and James Skotchdopole. The film will be released in the United States on December 25th of this year and abroad by Sony Pictures.
