Summary:
The rocking duo, Jack Black and Kyle Gass, otherwise known as Tenacious D have released a music video titled The Roadie ahead of the release of their newest album in 6 years.

The Roadie (May 9, 2012) – The rocking duo, Jack Black and Kyle Gass, otherwise known as Tenacious D have released a music video titled The Roadie ahead of the release of their newest album in 6 years Rize of the Fenix (May 15, 2012) to sing praise to the underappreciated and undervalued roadie who deserves as much appreciation and attention, as the bands themselves. Their last album Pick Of Destiny received harsh reviews and did not promote well. It seems the downtime encouraged the duo to come back stronger, “like a phoenix” stated Black:
“We recorded down and dirty in a friend’s garage with a shoestring budget of 600 dollars, much like Nirvana’s first album Bleach -or the Beatles first album “Help”. Rough and yet a masterpiece.”
In the video, Danny McBride stars as The Roadie. Here, McBride is an experienced, foul-mouthed on the road companion who is the inspiration behind the song. The video proceeds with the initial interview and the Tenacious D duo believe they have struck gold–they found a seasoned roadie, and there was no need to proceed with further interviews. They then decide to write a tribute to their new Roadie, Sebastian, during their show that night. In between the evocative music rifts, the empowered vocals of Black and Gass seemingly serenade Sebastian’s off-stage antics. The comedy-rock duo entrances their audience with heavy-metal sound and hardcore lyrics.
However, Sebastian proves not to be the exemplary roadie Black and Gassed had hoped. Behind the scenes, a different story was told about the highly praised roadie; he was engaging in the very objectionably scandalous behavior he supposedly no longer took part in. In the end, Jack and Kyle had second thoughts about their ‘totally awesome‘ roadie.
Tenacious D will be on the road this Spring beginning with a Memorial Day (May 28, 2012) performance at the Sasquatch Festival in Washington.
