Welcome to Woodbury.

The Walking Dead SPOILERS (3:3) Walk With Me; In this episode, we finally catch a glimpse at what Andrea (Laurie Holden) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) have been up to. Unfortunately for them, their curiousness landed them in the town of Woodbury, where the infamous Governor (David Morrissey) and his mad scientist reign. A familiar character makes a return visit to the show, and if you think things are all calm and peaceful in the Governor’s Utopian society–you are dead wrong.

The show is carefully playing alongside the comic, and by that I mean the crashed helicopter. Rick and his small team investigate the crashed helicopter and notice that there are footprints leading away from it. In Walk With Me, Michonne and a very ill Andrea check out the crash site while hidden. They watch as a group of men approach, and I hated to see an end come to Michonne’s pet walkers–but they were drawing attention from the men–and the Governor who are busy at the crash site. Still, Merle found the two and so begins the blindfolded trip to Woodbury.

Woodbury seems like a pretty peaceful community. But there is a lot that remains unseen. Here, Andrea is falling under the influence of the Governor’s hospitality–and this pisses me off about her. How easy it is to “tame” her. She is attracted to men and power. See what happened with Shane in season two? Shane taught her how to fire a weapon, and she was all over him. I am starting not to trust Andrea. After Milton (Dallas Roberts) inquired about Michonne’s pet walkers after breakfast, Andrea questioned why she would just take them out since they protected them all winter. My guess–if Michonne would have told her–her bitch ass would have run right along and told. At least Michonne isn’t a fool. Andrea’s going to wind up getting herself killed before the season is over if this ass kissing keeps up.

Ruler of all he surveys.

What brings the Governor’s sanity into question–this guy killed a squad of rescue workers and looted their equipment. For no reason, other than wanting to retain control of Woodbury. I had to rationalize why he would have done such a thing–I mean, would you want some measly national guard coming into your compound and start running things after you worked so hard to put the community together? I thought not.

This episode was more about learning the dynamics and motivations behind the Governor and the way he now views the world. With Merle making a comeback in this episode, I predict that he will be the one to lead an exploration mission to find the other survivors–Rick’s group. He will have an opportunity to reunite with his brother Daryl (Norman Reedus) and quite possibly, due to Daryl’s loyalty to Rick–I mean he has Rick’s back in everything–will cause a clash with his own brother.

Spoilers At this point:

—  I am a bit uneasy about Merle’s intentions with the group. Thinking back to the comic, the Governor was clearly identified as the bad guy, however, in the television show, you really don’t know what to think about Morrissey’s Governor–but then there was that aquarium of heads.

—  I don’t blame Michonne one bit for being suspicious on the Governor’s intentions. She wants her sword and the hell out of there. Dammit Andrea is all “caught up” in the vibe the town of Woodbury is putting out. Rest assured, she will soon come to regret her false sense of safety.

—  About this time in the comic, Rick and Michonne were the ones “captured” and it is Rick, not Merle who winds up one-handed.
