TRUE BLOOD, IN THE BEGINNING, SEASON 5

Russell’s back. What did you expect?

True Blood, Season 5: ep. 7 (July 22, 2012) – Super spoilers! War is coming. It draws closer each week and with each episode. Russell (O’Hare) has just pledged eternal allegiance to Lilith, and with Salome (Cervi) and Nora (Griffiths) serving as his main sidekicks, the entire remaining Authority has lost their damn minds! Alcide (Manganiello) is preparing to face JD (Louis Herthum) for the title of Packmaster Sam (Trammell) is doing an awesome job of tracking down the redneck hunters, and Sookie (Paquin) has been informed her powers are finite so what does she do? Trying to “use them up” recklessly. She is such a pivotal character on the show that I doubt that she will be able to lose them completely.

The Authority. They’ve been reduced to a blood hungry cult, and to think I thought they were going to hold their ground. But, alas, with most power in this world it is always subject to corruption. Eric (Skarsgard) and Bill (Moyer) are running with their new vampire pack and Eric has seen a glimmer of hope in the form a vision of Godric (Hyde), his maker. Hopefully Godric will set him back on the right path–whatever that may be.

Bartolo (Del Zamora) is a total freak! Whatever was that damn ritual he was trying pull on Lafayette (Ellis) gave me all kinds of chills! I’m not so sure what’s more horrible; the twisted ritual or the way he died? I’m just thankful Lafayette is safe!

I’m hoping that Alcide makes up his mind and become the leader of the pack. JD thinks it’s wise to listen to his anonymous vampire acquaintance (obviously Russell) to motivate the group to join his side for the final battle that will decide the fate of the planet. He even tried to get Emma (Noelle) involved in the mess! Martha (Dickey) continues to prove herself as a suitable choice for an elder relative. I’m hoping that Luna (Gavankar) realizes this!

What are you about to get yourself into Hoyt (Parrack)? He and Jason (Kwanten) are leaning more towards the “human” side of the increasingly volatile relationship between humans and vampires.

Sookie is growing tired of being part faerie due to the trouble it causes her in life. This isn’t the first time she’s grown frustrated with her powers, but considering what else is occurring it couldn’t have come at an ill-fitting time. I’m hoping the fairies get involved somehow and prevent all out war.

Things are about to get hectic in a few! On a side note, why are they deciding to bring Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) back? I wonder what more will she add to the show. Right now it isn’t very much. Is it just me or has the show lost out in the romance department? The gore element has definitely increased–but forgot the other essential element to the series that make it truly unique.

Must be Thursday!

  1. The reveal that it was Salome who released Russell was such a blah moment. Of course it was her. Didn’t feel like a reveal, more a pointing out of the obvious.

I’m glad that Russell’s back, but this whole thing with the Authority and Lillith – just feels like a bit of a mess.

I’m hoping Hoyt’s just doing a double agent sort of thing. He’s smarter than that! Surely.

    • You know, you bring up a very strong point with the Authority–I have no idea what is going on with them! It is a bit of a mess at the moment, but I was very happy about seeing Godric again!

I hope the same for Hoyt as well but it looks very unlikely. Jessica is the one we should be concerned about presently.
