- TV Show Review :
Season Five finale. Eric embarks on a final, desperate mission to overthrow the Authority--and save Bill from losing his humanity. Andy faces the consequences of a Light Pact he made; Alcide readies for a second showdown with J.D.; Sam and Luna test their limits in trying to escape the Authority.
It’s all fun and games until…well the seasons over.
True Blood, season 5 Finale ‘Save Yourself‘ SPOILERS - Why couldn’t the entire season been as interesting as the finale? In conclusion, I am just covering certain aspects of this long awaited, and final episode of this season of True Blood. In all, Eric was easily the strongest character for this season, and I was more than pleased he got his much awaited revenge against Russell. His end did come earlier than we all may have expected, and well, he kinda had that coming. However, it led to something very interesting involving a heartbreaking moment for Sookie. No matter how much Eric tried to help, Bill couldn’t resist Lilith’s calling and is now possessed by her. Damn Bill. Just damn.
The Andy-Maurella storyline was hilarious! I thought that more would come out of their “parenting relationship.” Maurella’s rather ecstatic birthing process was priceless and hopefully will play more of a role in the sixth season than relief from the seriousness (or silliness). Lafayette’s reaction during the entire process was priceless. Did anyone else expect a romantic hookup between Tara and Pam? After all this constant back and forth between the two I’ll admit, the two are made for each other.
All of the other side story lines resolved satisfactorily. The Shreveport Pack has a new master, Alcide. He had such a Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine air about him tonight. Sam and Luna finally rescued Emma, and not before Luna revealed the Authority’s HQ on live television. Now I wonder what will happen now that the public “knows” of the Authority’s secret location?
Last night’s episode was especially gooey. Jason went ballistic executing the guards at the Authority HQ. His insensitivity towards “vampire friendly” citizens could come as a cause for concern. I am a little concerned about what his relationship with Jessica will be like now. It may be that we will have a reoccurrence of season two in the upcoming season; season six of True Blood. Granted the finale ended on sort of high note, and did well to set us up for next season with Bill as the not-so surprising antagonist.
All’s well that ends with an episode that was better than the majority of the season.
