Koreeda’s returns with AFTER THE STORM (Umi yori mo mada fukaku) (2016), a compelling tale about a father, working as a private detective attempts at reconciling with his estranged family. Filming After The Storm (2016) took place in the same Asahigaoka Housing Complex, located in Kiyose, Tokyo, where Koreeda himself lived between 9 and 28 years of age.
A struggling novelist working as a private detective attempts to reconcile with his aging mother, ex-wife and 11-year-old son.
