Four dark tales that were written and directed by fiercely talented women filmmakers.
XX (2017) is a new all-female helmed horror anthology featuring four dark tales written and directed by fiercely talented women. Written by both Roxanne Benjamin and Annie Clark (St. Vincent), with Clark in her directorial debut, The Birthday Party (2017), involves a ‘harried’ housewife that tries to keep her daughter–and the nosy neighbors–from discovering a dark secret on the morning of her daughter’s birthday party. Next up is director Karyn Kusama‘s Her Only Living Son (2017), where a mother finds herself face-to-face with a son who can no longer deny his monstrous heritage. A group of friends finds trouble when they trespass someone–or something else’s land on a camping trip as Roxanne Benjamin returns as the writer and director of Don’t Fall (2017). In the fourth and final suspenseful tale, The Box (2017), based on a story written by Jack Ketchum, and written/directed for the screen by Jovanka Vuckovic, a mother struggles to make connections when her young son suddenly stops eating after peering into a shiny red gift box on a commuter train. Will she be able to piece together all the clues before her husband, daughter, and son wastes away?
Award-winning animator Sofia Carrillo (La Casa Triste) wraps together four suspenseful stories of terror.
